The Charleston Town Center is getting set for the holiday shopping season with four new retailers, two relocations, two seasonal openings, one remodeling project and free Wi-Fi Internet access at Center Court.
The new retailers are K&K Home Furnishings, Easy Spirit, Mattress Warehouse and Mobile Now, said Lisa McCracken, the mall's marketing director. Collectibles Etc.. has already relocated and Salvage Yard will relocate this month.
Magic Makers is returning with their Halloween shop and a holiday Toys R Us store is going into a portion of the space once occupied by Steve & Barry's, McCracken said. BB&T Corp. will remodel its bank branch and Center Court now has free Wi-Fi. "We give a nod of thanks to Starbucks for that," McCracken said.
Here's a summary of the new retailers:
"For the last seven years Charleston Town Center has presented a very unique and beautiful holiday shop, Country Walls," McCracken said. "Country Walls is coming to the mall as a permanent home furnishing and seasonal decor store, opening Oct. 1."
The store will be named K&K Home Furnishings. It will occupy just less than 3,500 square feet in the space formerly occupied by Bombay on the mall's second level.
"K&K Home Furnishings will have over 5,000 different products in this store," McCracken said. "They only have one other retail store. That's in their headquarters in Sandusky, Ohio. I visited it in June. It was over the top - a very exciting shopping experience.
"This store will be filled with gifts, furnishings and home decor for every season," she said. "They'll open with a major Christmas decor installation."
Bill Givens will manage the store.
Easy Spirit Shoes opened two weeks ago in the 1,300 square feet of space formerly occupied by Bandolino. "Easy Spirit closed here in 2004 in the location now occupied by Chico's as they were deciding to no longer have stand-alone stores across the country," McCracken said. "Now Easy Spirit has returned."
Bandolino and Easy Spirit are owned by the same parent company.
"We have already received over a dozen phone calls from customers thanking us for bringing back Easy Spirit," she said.
Mattress Warehouse opened last week in the 700-square-foot space on the first level formerly occupied by Select Comfort. "For (owner) Kim Knopf and the Mattress Warehouse family, this is an opportunity to showcase their high-end mattresses at the shopping center," McCracken said.
Mobile Now is taking just under 1,000 square feet of space formerly occupied by the Stride Rite shoe store on the first level.

Collectibles Etc.. moved last week to the second-level Center Court location formerly occupied by Adams Fine Gifts. The sports memorabilia shop now occupies just over 1,400 square feet of space, McCracken said.Salvage Yard, a retailer of biker and cult clothing, is moving this month from about 350 square feet of space near JC Penney's second-level entrance to the 700-square-foot space formerly occupied by D&D Outfitters. The seasonal openings:
"Magic Makers is returning with their popular Halloween shop," McCracken said. This year the shop will take the former Half Time Bar & Grill or Gratzi's location.
"They will open in September and will have the Court Street entrance and a mall entrance in the courtyard next to Jos. A. Bank," she said.
"This season, across the country, Toys R Us is putting temporary stores throughout shopping centers where they do not have representation," McCracken said. "We're placing them on the second level, in part of the empty Steve & Barry's location. They'll occupy 4,200 square feet of space. They will be open at the end of September and stay through the holiday season."The remodeling project will be at BB&T's branch bank.
"There will be no change in their footprint," McCracken said. "They will be returning the tellers to the public area of the bank."
Work will begin this month.
McCracken said the Charleston Town Center has remained on an even keel throughout the Great Recession. The new retail lineup leaves only two large empty spaces, Bennigans and Gratzi's, and "we are in negotiations for those spaces," she said.
Salad Creations, which closed July 2, is still in the midst of a change in owners, she said.
