Hostess Brands warns of liquidation
Hostess Brands Inc. warned that a widespread strike would cause it to liquidate if it cannot produce or deliver products.
The company's warning came on Friday after the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union said its members at some Hostess bakeries had gone on strike.
Hostess Brands is based in Irving, Texas. The company has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since January. The company's brands include Hostess, Wonder, Nature's Pride, Dolly Madison, Drake's, Butternut, Home Pride and Merita.
The company operates 36 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, about 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores in the United States. The company does not have any bakeries in West Virginia. It has one outlet store in the state, at Morgantown.
