CAMC releases benefit report
Charleston Area Medical Center has issued a report that says it benefits the community to the tune of nearly $121 million a year.
In 2011 the benefit included $45.7 million in unreimbursed Medicaid, $2.3 million in other public unreimbursed costs, $39 million in charity care at cost, $33 million in community programs and services, and more than $820,000 in subsidized health services.
CAMC said that each year it has more than 600,000 outpatient visits, more than 100,000 visits to the emergency room and about 40,000 in-patient discharges.
