Frontier warns customers of fradulent phone calls
Frontier Communications is warning customers to be on alert for fraudulent phone calls from people claiming to be Frontier representatives.
The company issued a news release Monday morning that said in the last two weeks an increasing number of Frontier customers in West Virginia have reported being contacted by callers using deceptive tactics in an attempt to convince customers to switch service.
"These scammers suggest they are affiliated with Frontier and then try to convince our customers to switch service to another company," said Dana Waldo, senior vice president and general manager Frontier.
"We urge the public to be wary about such solicitations," Waldo said.
Waldo said customers should not provide any personal information to any callers that seem illegitimate.
He said if an individual does receive a suspicious phone call, they should ask the caller for their contact number for verification or call Frontier at 800-921-8101.
"We are taking steps to stop misleading calls," Waldo said "We believe in competition and fair play. We do not condone or engage in deceptive practices of any kind."
