The Bridge Road Neighborhood Association, in coordination with the state Division of Natural Resources and Appalachian Power, is sponsoring an educational program about tree hazards in urban areas tonight at St. Matthews Church.
Appalachian Power forestry supervisor Phil Ross and DNR urban forester Jesse Wise will deliver a program titled "Identifying Hazard Trees in an Urban Setting."
Downed trees and branches caused significant damage to utility lines last year during the June 29 derecho and Superstorm Sandy.
The 45-minute presentation will address ways homeowners and businesses can mitigate hazards and work with the utilities to keep lines clear.
The presentation will be followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer period.
Due to limited seating, the meeting is intended only for residents in the Bridge Road and Loudon Heights Road areas of Charleston.
Those interested should RSVP with the community association at brnas...@
