CHARLESTON, W.Va. - AT&T on Wednesday announced it plans to introduce high-speed, 4G LTE wireless network coverage to Morgantown and Huntington this summer.
The cities will be the first in West Virginia covered by an AT&T 4G LTE data network, which offers download and mobile browsing speeds 10 times faster than older 3G networks.
The new LTE network will allow customers stream, download and upload data at faster speeds on 4G LTE-compatible smartphones, tablets and devices.
AT&T currently offers the service in 182 cities nationwide. Morgantown and Huntington are being added as part of a nationwide expansion into 77 more cities this summer.
While AT&T has the largest regular 4G data network in the country, its number of 4G LTE sites is less than competitor Verizon.Verizon already offers 4G LTE coverage in eight West Virginia cities, including Charleston, Huntington, Beckley and Morgantown.
