The Robinson & McElwee law firm announced Tuesday that it has merged with Alliance, Ohio-based Geiger Teeple Smith & Hahn to expand its legal practice in that state.
The merger, which was effective June 1, was designed to combine the resources of the two firms, both of which have extensive oil and gas practices.
"The combination with Geiger Teeple offers our clients a fully integrated team of attorneys that are held in high esteem by the oil and gas industry," said Kent George, managing member of the merged firms.
"With our expanded presence in the Appalachian Basin, we are large enough to offer depth and breadth of experience, but nimble enough to have the efficiency and flexibility that ultimately benefit our clients," George said.
Geiger Teeple began representing Ohio's first oil and gas company with rotary drilling technology more than 60 years ago. In addition to its oil and gas work, it has also maintained a comprehensive business and civil litigation practice.
"We are very pleased to join forces with a firm that complements our practices and mirrors our culture, and we are eager to offer clients access to a broader range of services," said Geiger Teeple member Bruce Smith.
The combined firm now has 47 lawyers operating out of five offices in West Virginia and Ohio.
It will operate as Geiger Teeple Robinson & McElwee PLLC in Ohio and Robinson & McElwee PLLC everywhere else.
