Crews are tearing down some of the properties around campus that West Virginia University recently purchased. The homes are along College Avenue, Stewart Street and Falling Run Road.
In total, 19 properties are set for demolition.
WVU officials have yet to announce what they will do with the properties once they are destroyed.
Fencing is up along one of the more well-known properties that will be demolished — the garage along University Avenue near the intersection of Falling Run Road.
Some of the properties require the demolition company to make improvements to sidewalks or to install retaining walls as part of the work.
Some of the demolished properties were purchased out of the McCoy 6 bankruptcy proceedings. WVU spent roughly $5 million to acquire 20 acres in that transaction.
