CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Rotary Club of Charleston has elected new board members and officers for the 2013 fiscal year.
New additions to the board of directors include Di Long, who will serve both as secretary and as chairwoman of the Rotary International Foundation, a new position; Ben Beakes, who will be chairman of the program committee; and Sky Kershner, a new board member.
Other board members include: Dill Battle, president-elect; Rachelle Beckner, public relations and media; Andi Herman, prayers and greeters; Allan McVey, community service chairman; Mark Pendleton, treasurer; Jackie Rosencrance, classifications; Pete Slicer, orientation; Susan Thompson, membership; Diana Sole Walko, international; and Matt Ballard, past president.
"It was my honor to serve as our club's president for the past year," Ballard said in a prepared statement. "Our board and the entire membership worked hard to accomplish our goals. Our community service projects impacted children and senior citizens in our community as well as the lives of many in Africa where we have helped to continue toward the goal of eradication of the Guinea Worm.
"Our club has confidence that this outstanding group of leadership elected for this coming year will continue the long tradition of our club, of putting 'Service Above Self.'"
