The West Virginia Division of Tourism's "Where is your West Virginia?" campaign recently won two awards for outstanding print and television marketing from Summit International Awards.
The Division of Tourism campaign, created by its agency of record, Stonewall Retail Marketing, has now received 18 different print, broadcast and publication awards during the last 18 months.
The campaign is designed to connect with audiences and draw them into a present-tense West Virginia adventure, with an emphasis on geographic proximity, family values, affordability, and the promise of an escape from traditional vacations.
"People connect with this campaign," state Tourism Commissioner Betty Carver said. "Travelers are able to imagine themselves here ... enjoying our natural beauty and history."
Carver said the campaign has been particularly successful during the last year, as the division has promoted and celebrated the state's 150th birthday.
Summit International Awards is one of the oldest and most prestigious international organization that evaluates excellence in marketing communications.
The program reviews thousands of submissions from 22 countries each year and entries are judged on strength of concept, quality of execution and ability to persuade.
