* Morgantown businessman Parry Petroplus is joining MVB Bank Inc. as a business development strategist.

With more than 30 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate and development, Petroplus will help MVB Bank cultivate and build client relationships as the firm continues to expand its footprint across the region.

NONPROFIT

* Megan Cutlip has been hired as development director for The Foundation for the Thomas Memorial and Saint Francis Hospitals, Inc.

Cutlip worked for more than six years in Washington, D.C. fundraising for members of Congress and various nonprofit organizations. 

ACCOUNTING

* The West Virginia Society for Certified Public Accountants recently announced its 2013 award winners.

Bluefield CPA Leroy Mabe was given a Life Membership award in recognition for his more than 50 years of service to the organization. This is only the 41st Life Membership award presented by the organization.

Elton Bond received the Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry Award. Bond is senior vice president and chief accounting officer of MRC Global, Inc. 

Lawrence Pack received the 2013 Public Service Award. Pack is managing member of Stonerise Healthcare, the parent company of four skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in West Virginia.

Adam Kennedy received the Young CPA of the Year Award. A 2008 graduate of Ohio Valley University, Kennedy is a manager in the Parkersburg office of Suttle & Stalnaker, PLLC.

Robert Simpson, Jr. received the 2013 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award.  Simpson is a full-time faculty member in the College of Business, Division of Accountancy and Legal Environment at Marshall University. 

Joseph Mowery received the 2013 Outstanding CPA in Government Award.  Mowery is the business manager and treasurer for the Pendleton County Board of Education. 

Beth Bumgarner received the 2013 Women to Watch Experienced Leader Award.  Bumgarner is a member of the Parkersburg office of Suttle & Stalnaker.   

Erica Cameron received the 2013 Women to Watch Emerging Leader Award. Cameron works as controller at Ohio Valley University.
