CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Festival of Glass at Blenko Glass Co. in Milton draws a bigger crowd every year with a variety of classes, demonstrations and events.
"It's a lot of fun," said Katie Trippe, vice president. "All of the employees here really enjoy this event. We're excited to have this opportunity to bring people in again. This is the best time of year."
The sixth annual Festival of Glass is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3 at the Blenko Glass Visitor Center in Milton.
Interest has grown steadily in the festival that attracted 500 visitors the first year and more than 2,000 last year.
"A lot of attendees are coming back," she said. "They try a variety of classes. Everyone comes back with a lot of enthusiasm. Students may suggest new classes. We take their suggestions and come up with new classes every year."
A variety of classes are available for ages 3 and up ranging in price from $10 to $350.
Classes range from glass blowing to make-your-own glass vase or candy dish. There will be classes in glass jewelry, dalle mosaic, dalle chipping, and glass painting.
There will be signing events with President Walter Blenko Jr. and Vice President Andy Blenko.
Limited edition items to be sold Aug. 3 include Classic Fade Vase, Yellow Swirl Pitcher, and Cobalt Swirl Ruffle Bowl. Limit is one per person for each style.
