* Andrew Herrick joined the Charleston office of law firm Bailey & Wyant, PLLC as an associate.
A May 2013 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law, Herrick will focus his practice on general civil litigation.
* Allison Barker has been hired as a communications consultant for Appalachian Power.
Barker has more than 25 years of communications experience, having worked with the West Virginia Department of Education and The Associated Press. She will be based in the company's Charleston office.
Zach Bacon has been hired as Appalachian Power's energy efficiency and consumer programs coordinator. He will also be based in the company's Charleston office.
Bacon earned a degree in architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and will work Appalachian Power customers to help decrease their energy consumption and coordinate the company's low-income customer assistance program.
* Danny Scalise has been named the new chief operating officer and president at Rainmaker, Inc., a Charleston-based advertising, political strategy and public affairs firm.
Scalise had been working as chief executive officer of EnACT, Inc. He has also worked as a policy advisor for Governors Joe Manchin and Earl Ray Tomblin.
Rainmaker co-founders Larry LaCorte and Kim Lawrence will continue to serve as partners at the firm, but will shift their roles to focus more on communication and strategy for the agency's growing client base.
