* James Lane Jr. has joined the law firm of Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso as a senior counsel focusing on bankruptcy and creditors' rights matters.
A graduate of the Washington and Lee School of Law in Lexington, Va., Lane clerked for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Ronald Pearson in Charleston for two years before going into private practice in 1994.
* Kathleen McDermott has joined McKinley Carter Wealth Services as the firm's director of nonprofit advisory services.
McDermott recently served as president of the nonprofit Oglebay Institute in Wheeling. She was also named commissioner of the West Virginia Women's Commission in 2012
* Industrial Plating & Machine, Inc. in Hinton has promoted two employees to its senior executive staff: William Passan II has been named vice president of sales and Perry McKinney has been named vice president of production.
Passan oversees all aspects of the company's sales, marketing, and new business development activities. McKinney oversees repair and production activities at the company's 250,000 square-foot manufacturing center in Bluefield.
