The City of Winfield is now accepting credit card payments for many of the town's fees and charges.
Payments can now be made at City Hall or online at the city's website, www.cityof
"We are extremely excited to now be accepting credit card payments online and at Town Hall," said Mayor Randy Barrett.
"We are always looking for ways to improve the services we provide to our community, and giving our residents the option to pay municipal bills and fees using a credit card is definitely a step in the right direction," Barrett said.
Services payable by credit card include: business and occupation taxes, building permits, cemetery lot and monument marking fees, contractors licenses, grave openings, municipal licenses, sewer bills and deposits and traffic citations.
The city partnered with WV.gov to provide the payment processing service through the state's WViPay service. The service is designed specifically for state and municipal governments to process credit card payments over-the-counter and online.
The partnership operates under a self-funded model and no tax dollars were used to develop and maintain the payment service.
