AARP discusses social media, fraud during educational event

By From staff reports
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- AARP Foundation program specialist Robin Bowman explains to seniors the potential dangers of using social media during an AARP "Consumer University" event Thursday afternoon at the Embassy Suites in Charleston. About 150 Kanawha Valley seniors attended the educational event, which teaches seniors about the most common fraud tactics in use today and ways seniors can secure themselves against them. Representatives from the state Attorney General's Office, Senior Medicare Patrol, West Virginia State Health Insurance Assistance Program, and West Virginia Bankers Association also spoke to the group as part of the event.
