Greg Babe has been named new chairman of the board of directors of the Mid-Atlantic Technology, Research and Innovation Center, also known as MATRIC.
Babe currently serves at president and CEO of Liquid X Printed Metals, Inc. Previously, he was president and CEO of Bayer Corp. and Bayer MaterialScience LLC.
Babe succeeds Paul Arbogast as chairman of the board. Arbogast, chairman since 2008, stepped down from the position for personal reasons. He will remain a permanent member of the board, however, as its chairman emeritus.
Bowles Rice partner J. Thomas Lane has been named a 2014 West Virginia Bar Foundation Fellow. Bar Foundation Fellows are lawyers and judges who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their communities and honorable service to the legal profession.
Lane practices primarily in the areas of coal, oil and gas, commercial real estate, zoning and land development. He is current president of the Charleston City Council and has served as a councilman since 1987.
P.J. Scarr as has been named chief operating officer of Hospice of Huntington, Inc. Scarr will oversee regulation compliance within the organization and building operations for all offices in Cabell, Wayne and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Ironton, Ohio.
Scarr has an undergraduate degree in finance and a law degree from West Virginia University. She previously worked in private practice and was a member of the Hospice of Huntington Board of Trustees and Ethics Committee.
Gerard Oakley, MD, has been named medical director of the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
A longtime cancer specialist and chief of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Dr. Oakley has been caring for patients at cancer center since its doors opened in 2006.
Tiffani Rowe has been named Fruth Pharmacy's 2013 Pharmacy Technician of the Year.
An employee of the Fruth Pharmacy on Lee Street in Charleston, Rowe was one of 12 nominees out of more than 700 employees, and one of three finalists. Pharmacist Sam Arco said Rowe has extraordinary talents as a pharmacy technician and is a critical component in the Charleston store's operations.
