The popular Carnaval for New Orleans benefit will return to Charleston once again at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Clay Center.
The benefit event features a masquerade benefiting the education programs of the Clay Center and The Charleston Ballet. The French Quarter comes alive with authentic Louisiana cuisine prepared by Embassy Suites, cocktails and live entertainment.
Scheduled performers are the Grammy-winning Rebirth Band and Davell Crawford. The Charleston Ballet and a performance of "Appalachian stompgrass" by string band The Wild Rumpus are also scheduled.
The event will also include a live auction and an online silent auction for BiddingForGood.com. The silent auction opens today and will close during the event. Bids may be placed through the website or by mobile phone. Register at biddingforgood.com/CarnavalNewOrleans.
Tickets are $200 or $175 if purchased before 5 p.m. Friday. Guests must be at least 21. The event is black-tie optional, and masks and costumes are encouraged. This event is usually a sellout.
