Auditions for "Evita" are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the Charleston Light Opera Guild Theatre at the corner of Tennessee Avenue and Roane Street on the West Side.
Singing auditions will take place Monday and Tuesday. Those auditioning should come prepared with a musical selection. Music from the show is available, but guests are welcome to bring their own sheet music for the piano accompanist.
Available roles include Eva Duare Peron, mezzo-soprano; Che, tenor; Juan Peron, baritone; Augustin Migaldi, tenor; Peron's mistress, a soprano; youth who sing in the upper register and a large ensemble of men and women to portray the people of Argentina.
Dancing auditions will be Wednesday and combinations will be taught. Those trying out should come dressed to dance.
The Guild will present "Evita" May 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17 and 18 at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theater. The play is a rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice and is based on the life of Eva Peron, the wife of Argentine president Juan Peron.
