LOS ANGELES - The FBI has released its files on a trio of investigations the agency conducted on behalf of Whitney Houston.

The records released Monday show the agency conducted one investigation into an alleged extortion attempt in 1992, but agents and prosecutors determined no crime occurred.

Agents also found no evidence of criminal threats to the singer in fan mail that was sent to the FBI for investigation in 1988 and 1999.

The 128-page file covers the height of the Grammy-winning singer's popularity but does not contain any new personal details.

Records on the FBI's extortion investigation in which Houston was interviewed at the New Jersey offices of her management company are heavily redacted.

Houston drowned in a hotel bathtub on the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards.

Klum named judge on talent program

NEW YORK - NBC says Heidi Klum has been added to "America's Got Talent" as its fourth judge.

The network announced Monday that the supermodel will join fellow incoming judge Mel B this summer for the talent competition's eighth season. Howie Mandel and Howard Stern will be back at the judges' panel.

Klum says she's excited to join the show and size up the talent, "from the ridiculous to the fantastic!"

She continues to host the Peabody Award-winning "Project Runway" on Lifetime, as well as Germany's "Next Top Model."

Copperfield plane has unplanned stop

PEORIA, Ill. - A private plane carrying magician David Copperfield made an unscheduled stop in Illinois after it made a "frightening" sound en route from Las Vegas to New York.

Peoria International Airport officials say Copperfield's plane landed there after it began experiencing problems around 1:45 a.m. Monday.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reported that Copperfield was supposed to appear live on NBC's Today Show on Monday, but ended up filming the interview remotely from Byerly Aviation in Peoria, 160 miles southwest of Chicago.

The famed illusionist told the Today Show that the plane made crackling noises at 37,000 feet that he recorded on his cellphone. He says he "kind of freaked out." He also Tweeted that the incident was "so scary."

Schwarzenegger returns to magazine

LOS ANGELES - He was the Terminator, then a governor, and now Arnold Schwarzenegger is an editor.

The Los Angeles Times reports Schwarzenegger has been named executive editor of Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines.

It's a position that the former Mr. Olympia held briefly 10 years ago, after winning California's gubernatorial recall election. After being criticized for potential conflict of interest, he quit the job.

The Times says Schwarz-enegger, who has appeared on the magazines' covers more than 60 times, will contribute columns and other input.

In a statement, Schwarz-enegger says it was publications like Muscle & Fitness and Flex that inspired him to start lifting weights.

The magazines are owned by American Media Inc.
