St. John's Episcopal Church will host a family concert and old-time dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday at the corner of Quarrier Street and Leon Sullivan Way.
Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle bring their nationally renowned crankies to town for an evening celebrating Appalachian culture.
The duo weaves collected stories, old ballads, fiddle and banjo tunes with shadow puppetry and original scrolling illustrations called crankies.
The dance will follow. Jim Mullins, Mike Webb and John Lilly will provide live music.
