CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is encouraging students to enter a statewide art contest celebrating West Virginia's 150th birthday.
Winning artwork will be featured during the state's birthday bash at the Capitol in June. Winning artists will receive Kindles.
The contest is organized by the Department of Commerce. It's open to students in all grades, from kindergarten to grade 12.
Themes for the birthday greetings include illustrations that emphasize the state's unique or special qualities.
Applications and information about the contest are available online at www.wvcommerce.org/art150. Entries will be accepted through May 15.
