CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Melonious, the longtime mascot for Symphony Sunday, will be making appearances around Charleston to promote the annual free outdoor concert, scheduled for June 2 at the University of Charleston grounds.
Symphony Sunday is organized by the West Virginia Symphony League to raise money for the West Virginia Symphony. The watermelon-playing mascot Melonious has been used for years as a logo for the event.
Starting today, the symphony league will post a life-sized version of Melonious in city locations. The first person to find him and post a photo with him on Twitter along with the hashtag #Melonious will win tickets to symphony events.
Melonious will stay on the move until the weekend of Symphony Sunday.
