The last time the Charleston Light Opera Guild produced "Chicago," Tim Whitener had just come off a production of "Footloose" and needed a rest from community theater.
That was 2002, and he's regretted it ever since.
"Ever since then, I've said, 'I wish I had done that show,' " the veteran actor said. "It's such a great show and I think it has a lot of relevance today."
Friday night, Whitener gets to put that old regret as he takes the stage as Amos Hart, the husband of leading lady Roxie (played by Katlin Kouns) in the popular musical filled with murder, greed, corruption - and, of course, dancing.
Whitener, a native of Beckley, has been a regular on local stages since 1991, when he tried out for his first Light Opera Guild production.
