The last downtown ArtWalk of the year is a special Black Friday edition.
Local galleries will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with special exhibits and lots of holiday gift ideas.
The Charleston Ballet studios on Capitol Street will feature photographs by Penny Johnson along with stocking stuffers and gift items for sale including ballet sculptures.
The ballet also will feature the short film, "Angel's Perch," about an architect living in Pittsburgh who makes the trip to his tiny hometown to visit his grandmother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's. The film is set in Cass, Pocahontas County.
Other highlights include a new watercolor exhibit by Sharon Harms at The Art Emporium and a Purple Moon preview of antique glass that will be sold as part of an estate sale on Saturday.
At 8 p.m., fine art photographer Betty Rivard will display a sampling of her work at The Consignment Company on Capitol Street. The exhibition will feature a sampling of Rivard's black and white panoramas as well as color photos, mostly of West Virginia scenes.
She also will sign copies of her book, "New Deal Photographs of West Virginia, 1934-1943."
