MORGANTOWN -- To make sure no struggling college student goes hungry, West Virginia University is opening a food bank called The Rack.
It's stocked with canned and boxed foods, including macaroni and cheese, noodles, applesauce, oatmeal, tuna and rice.
Jacqueline Dooley of Student Organizations Services says the pantry was inspired by a media report about students who had no money to buy food but hid their hunger because they were embarrassed.
The Rack is in the Mountainlair and is open anytime the building is.
Fraternities and sororities will hold a food drive around homecoming to help stock The Rack.
It will be resupplied weekly, or as needed, with help from other organizations and departments.
