Largest gift in W.Va. State history 'a game changer'
Renovations of Fleming Hall should start some time this week, West Virginia State University President Brian Hemphill said Wednesday. The work, including a new 2,200-seat athletic arena and upgraded classrooms, is scheduled for completion by February 2014.
Fans attending West Virginia State football games will see an addition to the facilities in the near future, Hemphill announced. A $2.1 million athletic complex is planned for the southeast corner of the stadium thanks in part to a $1 million anonymous donation, Hemphill said.
Hemphill talks Wednesday with Chancellor Paul Hill of the state Higher Education Policy Commission. Hill said Hemphill is a president with a vision before introducing him for his first state of the university address.
An anonymous donor contributed $1 million, half of which will go to a new athletic complex at West Virginia State University, President Brian Hemphill announced Wednesday. The university still needs to raise $1.25 million to pay for the $2.1 million project.
