W.Va. man who fled turns self in to police
A man who escaped a State Police detachment has turned himself in and is facing more charges.
Troopers said Cornelio Ramon Rodriguez, 22, shimmied out of a small window in a restroom at the South Charleston detachment late Friday.
He was being processed after being arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Rodriguez contacted troopers Sunday and told them he would turn himself in. His girlfriend drove him back to the detachment Sunday evening, troopers said.
Troopers said Rodriguez had initially given them a false name, claiming to be Ruben Munoz Garcia.
Rodriguez was charged with escape, carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. He also is believed to have entered the country illegally.
He is being held at South Central Regional Jail on $5,000 cash-only bond. An employee at the jail said he would not be released because agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement are investigating the matter.
