W.Va. residents can ski for free Sat at Snowshoe

SNOWSHOE, W.Va. — Snowshoe Mountain Resort is offering a free day of skiing this weekend for West Virginia residents.

A proof of residence is required with Saturday's offer. The resort will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Snowshoe had 16 groomed trails and five lifts open Thursday with a snow base of 12 to 30 inches.

Snowshoe opened early this year after Superstorm Sandy dropped nearly 28 inches of snow at the Pocahontas County resort.
