Capito sends President Obama a bucket of coal for Christmas
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama is getting a lump of coal in his stocking this Christmas, courtesy of Rep. Shelley Moore Capito.
Capito, R-W.Va., teamed up with the Friends and Families for Coal and Citizens for Coal organizations to deliver a bucket of coal to the White House for Christmas.
Her office said the gift is to remind the president about the importance of coal and how the industry is being affected by new environmental policies.
"Each piece of coal represents the concerns of West Virginia families who are especially struggling this Holiday season because of the President's anti-coal agenda," Capito said in a press release.
"Coal means community in the Mountain State, and I am happy to deliver this bucket to the President to remind him that we will keep fighting to keep coal in the mix," she said.
Capito is co-founder of the Congressional Coal Caucus.
In addition to the bucket of coal, Capito plans to deliver a binder full of petitions signed by over 600 state residents titled, "All we want for Christmas is to keep our coal jobs."
