Two in police custody after possible hostage situation
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Two people were in State Police custody after a possible hostage situation in the Clendenin area.
Kanawha Metro 911 dispatchers said State Police in Roane County alerted them to the situation Monday evening. Dispatchers advised officers in Kanawha County to be on the lookout for a 2000 maroon Chevrolet Blazer heading toward Clendenin from Roane County.
Dispatchers said troopers reported that Rodney Workman brandished a pistol at a woman during a domestic dispute in Roane County. Workman then forced her into the SUV being driven by a man identified as Tim "Fluff" Drake, dispatchers said.
Troopers believed the men were heading toward Clendenin and asked Kanawha dispatchers to issue a be-on-the-lookout advising officers to use caution because the men were considered armed and dangerous.
Sgt. Michael Baylous said the two were captured at the BP station in Clendenin.
The whereabouts and condition of the woman were unclear Monday night. The incident remained under investigation.
