Parents to raise funds for addition to John Adams Middle
A group of South Hills parents have formed a nonprofit organization to begin raising money for an addition to John Adams Middle School.
They're holding a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the clubhouse at The Ridges housing development in South Charleston to discuss ways to begin raising the money.
The state School Building Authority voted in December to put up $750,000 to add four classrooms to the cramped building. The school system needs to raise an additional $250,000 to fund the project. Brandi Jamerson, who has one child in school at Ruthlawn Elementary and another at John Adams, said the project is in its earliest stages. At Wednesday's meeting they hope to settle on a name for the project, as well as a fundraising plan to pursue moving forward.
