Official fears stretch of Buffalo intersection will turn deadly
The U.S. 35 intersection at the Buffalo Bridge has posed problems for truck drivers since it opened in 2009. According to the state Department of Transportation, there were eight major crashes at the intersection between 2010 and 2012. Another one last week closed the intersection for several hours.
Fraziers Bottom truck driver Randy Lipscomb, 57, said if drivers would slow down they could easily navigate the intersection. He said finishing the final four-lane portion of U.S. 35 would divert traffic away from the intersection, reducing the problem.
