West Virginia schools compete for funds in video contest
The polls are open in Big Lots' 6th annual Lots2Give video contest, and local schools are competing.
The following four West Virginia schools are all vying for a chance to win a share of the $120,000 in cash prizes: Belle Elementary School, Belle; Elk Elementary School, Charleston; Guyan Valley Middle School, Branchland; and Lincoln County High School, Hamlin.
To enter the contest, schools submitted a 90-second video and a brief essay on why their school could use some additional financial support. Videos submitted by the participating schools can be viewed at www.biglots.com/lots2give where viewers can vote for their favorite.
Voting began last month and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 7. Winners will be announced on Aug. 10. Individuals can cast three votes per person, per day. Along with the video contest, customers can donate $1 or $5 at participating Big Lots stores now through Sunday. One hundred percent of donations will go directly to the schools.
