Oh, with all that natural beauty God took the time to put in ya
It's almost heaven in your arms
You remind me of West Virginia."
Turner recorded a little video -- just him and his guitar -- posted it to You Tube Monday, then added links through Facebook and Twitter. And it spread like crazy.
He credits his "humble audience," which he figures is mostly proud West Virginians, for latching on to the song and passing it along.
"It's hard to keep up with my social media right now, I'm getting so many responses," he said. "Pat White, the former Mountaineer, tweeted it."
Turner has found the social media to be far more helpful in marketing than anything else he could do, including trying out for "American Idol," which he did in 2010, making it through two rounds before he was told he was "too country," for the competition. The experience inspired another song, "I'm Too Country For That."
"I've always been really good with social media," he said. "I've realized traveling and playing is not the best way anymore to get your name known -- it's social media."
As for the newest song, it'll go on his new album, Turner said.
