CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- For the 16th year in a row, Wal-Mart is the largest private employer in West Virginia.
WorkForce West Virginia released its annual list of the state's largest private employers Tuesday, and the top five remained the same as last year. Wal-Mart is followed by West Virginia United Health System, Charleston Area Medical Center Inc., the supermarket chain Kroger and Consolidation Coal. Co.
WorkForce did not release specific employment numbers for each employer on the list.
Rounding out the top 10 were Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., Lowe's Home Centers, St. Mary's Medical Center, Mentor Management Inc., and Res-Care Inc.
WorkForce says the top 20 employers of 2013 had 1,683 more employees than the top 20 a year ago.
