CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Representatives of the national organization Lambda Legal will gather in Huntington this morning to announce a federal lawsuit to be filed in West Virginia.
Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
The group declined to release details on the lawsuit ahead of the announcement. Last month, representatives teamed with the American Civil Liberties Union and others to file a federal class action lawsuit challenging Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage. The group has also helped to file lawsuits seeking equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples.
