CHARLESTON, W.Va.--The opening date for the Four Points by Sheraton hotel on Kanawha Boulevard has been pushed back to January, following some delays in the building's renovation.
According to the Four Points by Sheraton website, the hotel has an opening date of Jan. 16, 2014. Reservations are not yet open.
The hotel, owned by Albany, N.Y.-based BBL Hospitality, is currently branded as a Ramada hotel. Once renovations are complete, the entire hotel will shut down for a few days to conduct the rebranding of the facility.
Originally, the hotel was supposed to rebrand and reopen this month, but construction crews have run into a few setbacks.
Carrie Hillenbrandt, BBL's director of sales and marketing, said as crews have dug into renovation work, they discovered some areas that needed more attention than they had planned for.
"It's an older building," she said. "When you start stripping away the layers, you find more."
The Ramada was originally the home of the Charleston House hotel. The property was part of the Holiday Inn brand for years until being converted to a Ramada in 2011.
Hillenbrandt said BBL is looking forward to the completion of the renovations, and the hotel management company is tentatively planning to have a grand opening celebration for the hotel in February.
