Photos: Glenwood Estate hosts holiday open house

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The historic Glenwood Estate on Charleston's West Side hosted a holiday open house on Sunday. The home, built in 1852 for Charleston lawyer and newspaper publisher James Madison Laidley, was festooned in a seasonal regalia of fresh plants, flowers and pine -- in both Christmas trees and boughs.

Fresh fruit mingles with holiday greenery in an elaborate dining room centerpiece. Rooms throughout the home were decorated to recreate the look of Christmas at the estate as it might have appeared in the 19th century. For more information about the estate, go to
