MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The head of the West Virginia University Foundation is stepping down at the end of the year.
The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/153RMei) says President and Chief Executive Officer Wayne King informed his staff on Thursday of his plan to resign.
King has run WVU's private fundraising organization since 2007.
In January, the foundation announced it was more than 80 percent toward reaching its goal in the ongoing "State of Minds" fund-raising campaign.
The goal is to hit $750 million within the next three years.
