Because of inclement weather, the job fair has been postponed. It has been rescheduled to 10 to 2 p.m. Thursday.
The 2012 Charleston Newspapers Job Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Charleston Civic Center.
The job fair will feature employers from virtually every employment sector. Marcia Thomas, the recruitment manager for Charleston Newspapers who organizes the event, said job seekers could look for everything from part-time, seasonal work, to permanent full-time jobs.
"It covers all the classifications of jobs, so we're pleased about that," Thomas said.
Representatives from 33 businesses will be there looking for employees, and Thomas expects between 400 and 500 job seekers to attend. Jamie Cook, job development coordinator for the Goodwill of Kanawha Valley, will also give a presentation for job seekers.
Those seeking work should come dressed professionally and with business cards or copies of their resume. Some employers may be prepared to make hires on the spot, Thomas said.
Employers will include Suddenlink, Enterprise Car Rental, Dodrill Heating and Cooling, Gestamp, Adecco, Casci, Prestera Center, Security Group, Sears, Comfort Keepers, Boone Nursing and Rehab, Patton Building, River Valley Child Development, Golden Living, Ticketmaster, Loved Ones In-Home Care, Macy's, Healthsmart, HSC Industrial, ACS Networking, Snowshoe Resort, Bath Fitter, NGK Spark Plugs, TRG Customer Solutions, Pizza Hut, Goodwill of Kanawha Valley, Constellium Rolled Products, FLSmidth/Ludowici, US Food Service, Charleston Newspapers, Thrasher Engineering, Target, Wells Home Furnishings, Department of Health and Human Resources, Bridgemont CTC and Everest.
