Kanawha County closed several individual schools today because of power outages. The rest of the schools in Kanawha were reopening.
Closed schools included Richmond, Pinch, Holz, Watts and Alum Creek elementaries.
Eastbrook Elementary in Putnam remained closed.
Midway Elementary in Lincoln County was also closed.
All of Boone and Fayette county schools were closed for the third day straight.
Many other school systems in West Virginia also had cancellations.
A little after 6 a.m. today, Appalachian Power was showing 14,076 customers still without power in Kanawha County, 2,849 in Putnam County, 9,428 in Fayette County, 8,327 in Boone County, 7,887 in Raleigh County and 4,774 in Lincoln County.
In the first 48 hours after the storm, Appalachian Power crews restored power to 83,000 customers, according to the company's website.
Today's weather in the Kanawha Valley is expected to be relatively mild with clouds at first giving way to sun in the afternoon.
