Luke Dent, 7, toughs it out as Alison Corbin, a nurse at the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, gives him a flu shot. Corbin and fellow nurse Sherry Graves administered 90 flu shots at Kenna Elementary earlier this week.
Elementary school parents get to choose whether their children receive an intranasal spray flu vaccine or a shot. All middle and high school students receive shots, however. Intranasal vaccines cannot be used on pregnant women and, by that age, nurses do not want to risk it.
