CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A string of early morning accidents were reported today with at least one person transported to an area hospital, a 911 dispatcher said.
The dispatcher could not confirm that a power outage played a role in the wrecks. However, the outage knocked out traffic lights from 31st Street and MacCorkle Avenue to South Ruffner in Kanawha City, according to metro 911. Traffic lights were also out on the south end of the South Side Bridge.
One accident with no injuries was reported at 6:52 a.m. today at 223 MacCorkle Ave. in St. Albans.
An accident with one person transported to the hospital occurred at 8:21 a.m. at Florida Street and Kanawha Boulevard. Between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. wrecks with no injuries were reported at 1200 Virginia St. E., Piedmont Road and Elizabeth Street, and 31st Street East and MacCorkle Avenue.
