Residents living in Pratt, Hansford, Paint Creek and Crown Hill areas in eastern Kanawha County are being asked to conserve water.
A boil water advisory will also likely be issued for the areas as well, Pratt Mayor Gary Fields said.
The advisory had not been issued as of 3 p.m. today, however.
At Fields' request, the Kanawha County Metro 911 Center sent out email notifications advising the residents to conserve water because of low levels in the Pratt water tank.
Fields believes water plant employees will have to pump water into the tank all night in order to reach a level where the call to conserve can be lifted, he said. The problem comes from the fact that the city has to use a portable water pump to fill the tank, Fields said. The tank was not filled through the night and daytime usage caused the water to reach a level where the conservation request was made, he said.
