Man who shot horses to face malicious killing charge
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A St. Albans man has been charged with malicious killing of an animal in connection with the shooting of horses in the Lower Falls Road area, said Cpl. Brian Humphreys, of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
Delmar Lacy, 39, turned himself in about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Humphreys said.
The arrest was in connection to an incident that occurred at 5 a.m. Sunday when deputies responded to reports of multiple shots being fired in the area. A caretaker found one dead horse and another injured with apparent gunshot wounds.
Some callers had identified Lacy as a suspect and said he was using an assault rifle.
Bond was set for Lacy on Friday morning of $5,000 property or 10 percent cash, Humphreys said. Further charges may be filed in connection with the injury of the other animal.
