The West Virginia Dance Company will present the final performance of "The Bottomland" at 7:30 p.m. today at the Fine Arts Theatre at West Virginia State University.
The concert choreographed by Doug Varone features contemporary dance reflecting world cultures, including a light-hearted treatment of the pomp and poise of Europe's Baroque period and a look into life in the Appalachian region set to the music of Patty Lovelace.
In the Brazilian piece, "Bambole," hula hoops accompany Paul Horn's salsa-infused jazz. The family-friendly show runs about an hour and a half.
Cost is $15 for general admission, $10 for non-West Virginia State students and free for West Virginia State students. For information, call 304-741-0925.
