The Kanawha Valley Village People will have their next regular gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday on the second floor of the St. Albans Library, 402 4th Street in St. Albans.
Everyone interested is invited to attend, and refreshments will be provided.
Kanawha Valley Village People is an organization of mostly seniors starting up in the Kanawha Valley.
It is a grassroots, nonprofit, community-based organization that supports its members by coordinating access to services that promote aging in place, social connections, health and well-being.
It is part of a national Village model designed to help people remain in their homes and stay connected with their communities throughout later life. The organization is affiliated with Cabin Creek Health Systems and West Virginia Partnership for Elder Living, and seeks members and community partners throughout the area.
The group meets several times a year in different parts of the Kanawha Valley. The St. Albans meeting will include a potluck of finger foods and beverages, a report from the Membership Committee, and discussion of membership criteria and services. Interest and activity groups will then break out to discuss travel, book discussions, dancing and card games. For more information about the Kanawha Valley Village People, contact the group's office in Malden at 304-741-9230.
