In other action, council:
n Agreed to pay Century Equipment of Hilliard, Ohio, $50,689 for a fairway mower and a greens mower for Little Creek Golf Course.
n Gave final approval to a revised ordinance raising the size of purchases allowed without competitive bidding from $5,000 to $10,000.
n Approved a proclamation honoring the General Federation of Women's Clubs and its South Charleston chapter for their many positive programs over the decades and declaring April 24 "GFWC Day." The organization is celebrating its 123rd anniversary.
During the meeting Public Works Director Gerald Burgy announced that the city's Spring cleanup will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 from Jefferson Road West (Spring Hill) and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4 from Jefferson Road East (South Charleston).
"We'll be picking up everything," he said.
Burgy said the city helped last Saturday with two cleanups-the Kanawha County Spring cleanup and the Davis Creek Watershed Association cleanup.
The watershed association's volunteers collected 117 tires and 13.3 tons of trash from Davis Creek, he said.
Burgy also reported that the remodeling of the first floor of the Little Creek clubhouse is expected to be done by the end of next month.
Mullens told council the city's Memorial Ice Arena has taken delivery of a new Zamboni ice resurfacing machine. "It's bright orange and black," he said.
