The Charleston Refuse Department will begin special collection runs Monday.
City crews will collect most kinds of refuse placed along city streets during the special runs, according to a press release from the mayor's office.
Residents whose regular collection time is Tuesday can set out the special items this Monday.
Wednesday customers will have a special collection day on May 13, according to the press release. Residents whose trash day is Thursday can put their special items out on the curb on May 20.
Friday customers can place their items out on June 3.
Special items include non-traditional trash such as furniture and appliances. City crews will not pick up batteries, toxic substances or paint cans that have not been properly dried.Residents with used paint cans must treat the cans with kitty litter or another substance that will completely dry the unused paint.
